People who go the extra mile
Celebrating interns on social media’s favorite holiday
When you work for a company that is working to accelerate a clean energy future, every day is Earth Day.
But that doesn’t stop us from going the extra mile. For the official anniversary of Earth Day, Volta staff got out in their communities to help the environment in more ways than one. Here are some of the highlights from this year.
Schooling people on electric vehicles.
Volta’s Boston team got together to answer questions while people explored electric vehicles. A big thank you to the nonprofit, Green Beverly, and Beverly Middle School for providing the time and space for people to see that cool cars are the ones that don’t need gas.
Take me to the river.
The Los Angeles River is 51 miles of habitat for birds and other wildlife. As Friends of the LA River (FOLAR), Volta staff took part in the largest urban river clean up in the country. Thanks to FOLAR for showing people how easy it is to do something meaningful for the environment.
Talking trash.
Every bit helps. The Montreal team collected more than 1 ton of garbage from the streets of Montreal. One tonne is equivalent to 2,200 pounds. Merci beaucoup to The Mission 1000 tonnes for le inspiration.
Forests forever.
Volta’s New York City team ventured into the Bronx River Forest to remove invasive plants and restore the ground where informal trails jeopardized the health of the forest. Special thanks to the nonprofit Natural Areas Conservancy for the work they do and showing us how we could help.
Leave no trace.
Volta’s San Francisco team called it: Clean the Bay Day. They blocked out time on their calendars to clear debris from the shoreline of the San Francisco Bay. Thanks for making the views of the Golden Gate Bridge better for everyone.
At Volta, we all agree: There are so many things we can do to help the planet.
