San Francisco, CA, May 3, 2021Volta Charging (Volta) was named the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award in the Most Valuable Service category and a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Energy Industry Innovation of the Year category in The 19th Annual American Business Awards®.

The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be virtually presented to winners during a live event on Wednesday, June 30.  Tickets for the virtual event are now on sale.

Volta earned the award for Most Valuable Service in the new COVID-19 response categories and the Energy Industry Innovation of the Year category. More than 3,800 nominations – a record number – from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Virtual Event of the Year, and App of the Year, among others.

The Volta Response System was launched in Huntington Beach, California to support the vital community messaging efforts of first responders battling COVID-19. As one judge said, “The Volta Response System is an innovative use of charging stations to distribute vital information during the pandemic and the most worthy candidate for this award.” In face of the crisis, Volta offered their digital advertising displays to city officials and first responders seeking to strengthen their capacity to communicate public safety alerts in a dynamic way that maximizes immediate messaging while minimizing the need for hands-on labor by first responders.

Though brought about because of the pandemic, the Volta Response System will have lasting use and impact on the community. "From our first email to Volta, to getting our signage on the stations and in front of difficult to reach populations, it was so simple,” said Firefighter Eric Blaska, Paramedic/Public Information Officer (PIO) of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California.

Consistent with Volta’s mission to drive sustainability forward, PredictEV™ is a machine-learning technology to help energy companies accurately predict electric vehicle adoption and demand in order to guide their capital investments in electrical infrastructure. “The increasing adoption of EVs is creating the need for charging infrastructure. PredictEV’s platform should be very helpful to utilities in making long-term infrastructure investments,” said one judge.

More than 250 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

“The American economy continues to show its resilience, and as we’re poised on the beginning of what should be a phenomenal period of growth, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of a wide range of organizations and people over the past 18 months,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher.  “This year’s Stevie-winning nominations in The American Business Awards are testament to the ingenuity, the commitment, the passion, the adaptability, and the creativity of the American people.  We look forward to celebrating this year’s winners during our virtual ceremony on June 30.”
